The first warm & sunny weekend of spring.

As I sit here on the sofa ready to begin typing, Domenic who is supposed to be in bed is standing at the door of his room. I have the T.V. on mute so I don't think he knows that I am down here listening. He is not saying anything, but he is just very lightly clinging the door on his gate from time to time. I know if I make a sound and he knows that I am listing he will make an excuse for me to go upstairs. So I type as quietly as I can hoping that he does not hear me.

Any normal kid would be exhausted after the long weekend that Domenic has had and today not having a real full nap. I believe he has had as good a weekend as any two year old could have.

It started Friday evening when his cousins Tori and Bane came over to babysit and play with Domenic. Nothing wears him out more than playing with his big cousins, he may be younger but he can keep up with them with no problem. I know all of his cousins are some of his favorite people, because he says their name all the time in hopes that they will come and play with him. He will go through to the whole list of them and with each name we have to come up with an excuse of why they can't come and play, and after he gets done with the last name he will say "ooh" and we assume he must be satisfied with our answers.

Saturday his friend Lorenzo came over with his mom and dad (Remo and Catherine). After we told him that Lorenzo was coming over he just kept saying his name and the word basketball because we told him Lorenzo was coming over to watch the OSU basketball game. From that point on he would look at the T.V. and say "baketball" in hopes that it was time for the game. Unfortunally Domenic is at that age where he only like to share his toys with himself and no other kids. One of the the great things of being a parent is to see how right now he can't share but knowing that your influence will eventually sink in and he will share what he has with all his friends.

Shortly before Lorenzo came over Domenic and I were playing outside, and the new neighbor kids came over and introduced themselves to Domenic. I have a feeling that Domenic will have no problem getting along with these kids even thought they are 4 and 6. Their first act of playing together was to find the one area in the yard with a puddle and muddy water and to start splashing each other. When the kids father said that if "Domenics tough enough to get dirty water in his eyes and not cry then him and his son will get along just fine." It is great that there are finally some kids close by in the same age group.

So if Domenic wasn't tired enough yet from this weekend we spent this whole beautiful Sunday out and about and he never complained once. He is happy as long as we are not home and he can be out exploring his new world. We spent a good part of the day walking around easton just so we can all be outside in the sun. While at easton he spent most of the time in the stroller, but the few times he got out, Linda would put on a harness that is a monkey backpack with the tail as the part the parent holds on to. I love to watch the peoples reaction to this harness, some people look and laugh and have an expression of how cute, but there are always those other looks from people, that you can tell are thinking that you might as well have him in a cage and carry him around in that. T o those people I say you child is probably a big nerd that has no sense of adventure and was always too scared to leave your side because they might get scared from there own shadow.

The rest of the day was spent at Moko's (Grandma and Grandpa's) house. (We don't know why he calls them that.)

As far as the standoff with Domenic and I, and not letting him know I was listening, I believe for once I may have won (he is as stubborn as his dad). After a brief 35 minutes Domenic finally broke down and call for Mommy. When I went up to see what he needed he showed me a spot on the carpet of milk that has been there a while. After promising to clean it in the morning he finally climbed into bed. So while I sit in his room trying to quietly type as he falls asleep I can't help but think that I hope that as my son sleeps he can dream about his past weekend and think wow my mommy and daddy love me so much that they gave me one hell of a weekend.
